MB4000W Whiteboard Coating/Paint

How much product do I need to cover this size of area?

Take the area you would like to paint, measure it by length and height, then multiply the two and this gives you the square footage or square meters based on the unit of measure you are using. Example, if you measured 6 feet long x 4 feet high, your calculation is 6 x 4=24. You will be painting 24 Square feet.

All paint companies work on theoretical coverage due to absorbency of different types of surfaces and the method of application therefore coverage is variable. We found from past experience when painting a latex painted wall you will get 3 Square feet per ounce and 4 square feet on a hard fast surface as when repairing an old whiteboard.

Taking the measurement of 24 Square feet divide it by 3 square feet, you would need one 8 ounce bottle of coating. (MB10W Whiteboard coating yields 3 square feet per ounce). Or email us your dimensions and we will calculate it for you.

Do I need to apply two coats?

All paint companies recommend you apply two coats as it guaranties proper coverage. You can apply the second coat of MB4000W within one hour.

Does your practical coverage of 3 Sq. Ft. per ounce account for two coats?

Prior to applying your coating is there any special surface preparation required?

As latex paint is the common paint used at home and industry no special surface preparation is required other than proper paint procedures.

The proper paint procedures recommend by all paint manufacturers are: 1) Apply to a clean surface. 2) If the surface is a high gloss surface, lightly sand with 250 grit sandpaper just enough to dull the surface a little. It does not need to be perfect, then remove dust. 3) Do not back roll – this is the most common error people make with all types of paints. What is back roll? This term applies when using a roller, paint pad, even a brush. It’s when applying the paint and you noticed you missed a spot and reach over and touch it up. What you actually end up doing is lifting the paint, causing a rough surface. Leave it and get it on the second coat.

Other types of surfaces include powered coated surfaces, oil based paints, vinyl films, melamine surfaces even wood, however coating wood requires more in-depth instructions. There are so many possibilities, email us and we can help.

Can I spray it on?

Yes, only if you are familiar with spray equipment. Spraying does leave a beautiful finish. If you are not familiar with spraying we recommend you stick to the applicator brush pad included in the kit or other conventional application methods.

When can I start writing on it?

Our paint dries to the touch in one hour. Just because it feels dry it does not mean that the paint is cured. Remember you will be using a marker on this surface. Under perfect conditions (temperature and humidity) you could use your new board in seventy-two hours/3 days. Ideally we suggest 7-8 days to allow for different conditions. Premature use can allow markers to permanently stain the surface.

MB10W Whiteboard Cleaner

Will your cleaner restore my whiteboard?

Not if your whiteboard surface has met the end of its service life meaning the protective film has been damaged. MB10W is a cleaner not a resurfacing product.

MB10W is an aggressive, friendly to use, odorless cleaner that is ten times more aggressive than off the shelf products. A little goes a long way.

Will your cleaner remove the ghosting?

The main cause of ghosting and the cause of smearing is due to residue build up that has been left behind from the markers and cleaners previously used. Other cleaners remove the pigment but not the solvents that are used in the markers, ultimately the marker will hold onto the solvent residue causing ghosting or smearing.

MB10W removes the solvents and many have found that a good cleaning with MB10W saved them from refinishing or purchasing a new whiteboard.
